Curriculum Statement

We believe in an education that is ambitious for all children. Our children deserve an education that allows their natural creativity and curiosity to flourish, alongside the purposeful acquisition of skills and knowledge.

We aim to deliver an inclusive, broad and creative curriculum which provides all learners with engaging and memorable learning experiences which inspire, enthuse and challenge. Our curriculum is coherently planned and sequenced.

We use CUSP (Curriculum with Unity Schools Partnership) curriculum which is underpinned by research evidence and cognitive science. Our curriculum is vocabulary focused and aims to equip pupils with the technical language required to talk about their learning in a precise manner, across the curriculum.

Each curriculum area is taught in a series of modules which are regularly revisited within each academic year and also built upon in subsequent years. Pupils access mini-quizzes at regular intervals within modules thus challenging them to recall their learning. Research shows that both the ‘spaced practice,’ and ‘Retrieval Practice,’ embedded within the curriculum, enhance pupils’ learning.

We will prepare all pupils for the future in modern British society by encouraging them to be confident, happy and respectful citizens, giving our children the best chance to succeed in an ever-changing world.

We have outlined below some of what is covered in school, if you wish to know more please contact the school. Detailed information is provided by the class teachers on the weekly newsletter and class pages, which can be found here.

The full national curriculum documents can be found here.
To support reading across the curriculum, both in school and at home we have purchased a subscription to Curriculum Visions online library. You can access their website here, the children have the login details in their class Team, but if you need help to access this please let us know.
