Hawker Class

Welcome to the new school year Hawker Class!
We will be doing lots of interesting learning over the autumn term. You can find details within these pages.
The yearly overview of our curriculum can be found at the top of this page.
If you would like any further information about our learning or curriculum please do speak to one of the team.
Each week, I write a section on the newsletter to update parents and carers about what has been happening in class. The newsletter is sent out on a Friday evening by email.
Forest School sessions are on a Friday afternoon. Please ensure your child wears comfortable, sensible clothes and footwear. This should include full coverage of a child's arms and legs (so long sleeves and trousers please) as this helps to protect them. We are happy for your child to wear their clothes into school for the day, however we recognise that this causes some children some anxiety, so if they prefer to come in wearing school uniform, they can get changed before we go over to the forest area.
PE  - Monday afternoon. Please send your child in wearing their PE kits on Mondays. You must remove any jewellery from your child, especially any earrings (unless they can do this independently themselves) and long hair must be tied back. These are safety requirements. We are not allowed to "tape" earrings or to take them out for your child - this is a Cambridgeshire schools policy.
Meet the Team:
Mrs Shelley Steer

Class Teacher

Hello, I'm Mrs Steer and I teach children in Key Stage 1 - year 1 and year 2. I have worked at Townley for 9 years.
I am passionate about developmentally appropriate learning and am keen to embed and develop this in key stage 1.
Science is my favourite subject, especially practical science and investigations. I also really enjoy teaching multisensory phonics .
I have an 11 year old daughter who attended Townley and is now at High School.
I love reading books and learning new things.
